Rental Terms
All vehicle rentals are governed by a comprehensive Rental Agreement provided at the time of booking or when collecting your vehicle. This document outlines the specific terms, conditions, insurance coverage, fees, and your responsibilities associated with the rental. In the event of any discrepancies between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement will prevail.
Eligibility Criteria
Renting a Vehicle Requirements
- To rent a vehicle from Marple Car Hire, you must be at least 21 years old, although age restrictions may vary depending on the vehicle type, with potential extra charges for drivers under 25. A valid full driving licence suitable for the vehicle category is required, along with identification and proof of your current address. Additionally, you will need to present valid payment information and a security deposit. Please review any further criteria outlined in the Rental Agreement.
Booking and Payment Process
- Reservations can be made via our website, by phone, or directly at our Marple location. A deposit may be necessary to confirm your booking. The total payment and security deposit are usually required upon vehicle pick-up. All prices are listed in British Pounds (£) and include VAT where applicable. We accept major credit and debit cards, processed securely.
Vehicle Pickup and Drop-off
- At the time of vehicle collection, please conduct a thorough inspection and report any pre-existing damage right away. A vehicle condition report will be created and signed by both parties. It is important to return the vehicle in the same condition as it was received, allowing for normal wear and tear. Any new damage will be evaluated and may incur additional charges. Ensure that the vehicle is returned with the same level of fuel as at pickup; refueling fees will apply if the tank is not filled. If you anticipate returning the vehicle late, please contact us immediately, as this may result in extra charges. You will be accountable for any parking fines, traffic infractions, or fees incurred during your rental, along with an administration charge.
Insurance and Responsibility
- All rentals include basic third-party insurance, with complete coverage details and excess amounts outlined in the Rental Agreement. Additional insurance options may be offered to minimize your financial responsibility. It’s advisable to review these options thoroughly. You remain liable for any damage or loss up to the insurance excess amount, except when additional coverage applies. Any damage resulting from negligence, misuse, or violation of these Terms will be your responsibility, irrespective of insurance.
Cancellation Policy and Modifications
Cancellation and amendment policies differ based on your booking type and the notice period provided. For precise information, consult your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Be aware that late cancellations or no-shows may incur additional charges.
Prohibited Activities
Prohibited Uses of the Vehicle
- Use of the vehicle for any unlawful activities is prohibited. This includes racing, rallying, off-roading, or any other risky behavior. Transporting hazardous materials or sub-letting to unauthorized individuals is not allowed. Additionally, driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol, exceeding passenger or weight limits, and operating the vehicle outside designated geographical areas without permission are strictly forbidden.
Breach of these terms may lead to rental cancellation and extra fees.
Liability Limitations
To the fullest extent allowed by English and Welsh law, Car Hire Marple will not be responsible for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including loss of profits, data, or business resulting from your use of our services. Our maximum liability for any claim will not exceed the total amount you paid for the rental in the past year. This limitation does not apply to liability for death or personal injury due to negligence, or for fraudulent actions.
9. Legal Jurisdiction
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will fall under the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts in this region.
Updates to Terms
Marple Car Hire reserves the right to update these Terms at any time. Changes take effect immediately upon publication on our website. Continued use of our services indicates your acceptance of the revised Terms.
