Rental Terms
All car rentals are governed by a comprehensive Rental Agreement, which you will receive upon booking confirmation or vehicle pickup. This document outlines the specific terms, conditions, insurance coverage, fees, and your obligations related to the rental. In case of any discrepancies between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement will prevail.
Eligibility Criteria
Renting a vehicle requires:
- To rent a vehicle from Marple Car Hire, drivers must be at least 21 years old, although age restrictions may vary based on the vehicle type. A full, valid driving licence appropriate for the chosen vehicle must be held for the duration specified in the Rental Agreement. Renters must present valid identification and proof of their current address, alongside payment information and a security deposit. Any further requirements outlined in the Rental Agreement must also be met.
Booking and Payment Process
- Reservations can be completed via our website, over the phone, or directly at our Marple location. A deposit may be necessary to confirm your booking. The remaining balance and security deposit are usually collected at the time of vehicle pickup. All prices are quoted in British Pounds (£) and include VAT when applicable. We accept major credit and debit cards, ensuring secure transactions through trusted payment processors.
Vehicle Pickup and Drop-off
- At the time of collection, it is important to conduct a thorough inspection of the vehicle and report any pre-existing damage without delay. A vehicle condition report will be created and must be signed by both parties. Please return the vehicle in the same condition as it was received, taking into consideration normal wear and tear. Any new damage will be evaluated and charged as necessary. The vehicle should be returned with the same fuel level as when collected; refueling fees will apply if the fuel level is insufficient. Late returns may result in additional charges, so please notify us as soon as possible if you expect to return the vehicle late. You will be responsible for any parking fines, traffic violations, or other charges incurred during your rental period, along with an associated administration fee.
Insurance and Liability Terms
- All car rentals from Marple include basic third-party insurance. For full details regarding coverage and excess amounts, please refer to your Rental Agreement. Additional insurance options may be available to limit your financial liability, so reviewing these is advisable. You remain accountable for any damage or loss up to the insurance excess, unless you opt for additional coverage. Any damage resulting from negligence, misuse, or violation of these Terms remains your responsibility, regardless of insurance status.
Cancellation and Modifications
Cancellation and amendment policies differ based on the type of booking and the notice given. For precise information, please consult your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Be aware that late cancellations or no-shows could incur additional charges.
7. Restricted Activities
Prohibited Uses of Rental Vehicle
- Use of the vehicle for illegal activities is strictly prohibited. Engaging in racing, rallying, off-roading, or any dangerous driving practices is not allowed. Transporting hazardous materials or substances is forbidden. Sub-letting the vehicle or permitting unauthorized drivers is not permitted. Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs is unacceptable. The vehicle should only be used for its intended purposes and within specified passenger and weight limits. Travel outside of agreed geographical boundaries requires prior authorization.
Breach of these terms may lead to rental cancellation and fees.
8. Liability Limitations
To the fullest extent allowed by English and Welsh law, Marple Car Hire will not be responsible for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, including loss of profits, data, or business, that may arise from your use of our services. Our liability for any claims will be limited to the rental fees paid in the previous 12 months. This limitation does not apply to liability for death or personal injury resulting from negligence or fraud.
9. Legal Framework
These Terms are regulated by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will fall under the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts in this region.
10. Updates to Terms
We reserve the right to update these Terms at any time. Changes take effect immediately upon posting on our website. Continued use of our services indicates your acceptance of the revised Terms.
